Some folks who come into the sport buy their snowboards ; others get theirs as gifts after much pleading and patient waiting. That’s a start, but now you have got to work out the hardest part, which is learning how to become a genuine snowboarder. Boards come in all sizes, for adults and kids of all ages and sizes so when you get your board, confirm it is a good fit. This way learning the way to snowboard is going to be way easier.
Snowboarding works in much the same way as skiing, and the board is shaped in pretty much the same way as a ski. For those with experience in skiing the transition should be much easier than for someone who is altogether new to the snow.
There are many types of snowboards, including freestyle boards, complementary ride boards and alpine or race boards. Beginners like them because they are more easy to use than the other kinds of board. The 2 ends of the freestyle board are the same, so there isn’t any back and front. This kind of board is good for learning to snowboard, and for learning new tricks. Employ a soft, short shoe for this type of board.
Naturally, an amateur or noob wouldn?t have much use for this facility. It isn’t as short or wide as the freestyle board and it is less flexible.
Race or alpine boards are the sort of boards you will see being utilized in major competitions, or by professionals. Its thinness increases stability and makes the board pick up speed easier, and make sharp, fast turns more easily. The shoe that goes with a race or alpine board looks like a ski shoe, for support and control.
Be sure to keep your legs and your full body relaxed. If you tense up it is going to be hard going, and you run the risk of experiencing a deadly fall. Keep your knees bent a little , but don’t lock them. Instead, focus on keeping your legs loose to soak up the pressure of any bumps you bump into.
That way, the ride will be smooth and easy and it will not be hard to keep your balance. Avoid the urge to tense up your legs, or you will not get that smooth ride and you are highly likely to finish up on the ground, which isn’t a neat place to be. Glance at the pros and see how they do it, and you will get an understanding of the sport. This is a good way to avoid needing to learn by random attempt, which could be a really agonizing process.
When you think you are prepared, strap in the other foot and try going down the hill for the first time.
Use your front leg to lead the board, and use your hips to maintain balance. Remember to keep your knees bent to absorb the shocks of any bumps on the hill. You are now snowboarding. When you would like to stop just turn sideways so that the board is heading vertical to the hill, and you are facing up. To start again, point your snowboard down and it will start sliding.
You may want to borrow kit the initial few times to get a feel for the sport before getting your own personal shoes and board. You will also have a better idea about what sort is correct for you. .

Where can i find new snowboarding gear at a reasonable price?
Hello,
Im just getting into snowboarding, and i need to buy a snowboarding jacket, snowboarding pants, snowboarding boots, and googles. I have a friend who is letting me use their board which has bindings on it already.
I want to get the best possible deal since all of this is expensive of course, but i live in VT so i can board about 4 months out of the year, so i want to purchase a good brand that is going to last.
I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions of good brands & websites that carry them for reasonable prices? Im a fan of burton but a lot of there stuff is expensive, i want the best prices i can get since i dont have a lot of money.
Also, im petite (about 5 feet & 100 pounds) so i don’t want something that’s too bulky or that will be too big on me haha. Specific suggestions would be awesome! But any input at all is great
