snowboarding in the park and switch…?
what are some good tips on getting better at hitting huge jumps and staying balanced in the air?
and also i cant ride regular for my life(im normaly goofy), how can i fix this?
Ive snowboarded for 10 years and taught snowboarding for 3 of them. The way i got to get decent at riding switch is by simply doing it for as long as you can. You gotta train your body to accept it as a way of going and focus on doing the opposite of what you do riding Goofy. Start with the basics and learn how to turn back and forth focusing on the torsional flex (essentially twisting) of your board. Start going down steeper stuff and don’t hesitate. It may take you awhile but you gotta learn it some how.
As for hittin the big booters in the park. Obviously start off small and work your way up to the big ones. Focus on the speed that other people are hitting them. Remember the more centered You Are the more centered you will be on your landing. Make sure you have your knees slightly bent and DONT extend them all the way until you are almost about to hit the landing. People arent used to flying through the air so you have to get comfortable at doing it. Practice makes perfect and wither you like it or not crashes will happen. Its all part of any sport. Knowing how to land and how to roll out of a crash will help.
The main reason people eat alot of snow on the landings is because they either start to catch an edge on the take off or their body is simply off balance. It may help to go off the jump on a slight edge (toeside or heelside) but dont get too used to that because off a bigger jump that can throw you off balance on the landing because you will overcompensate for the landing.
