Advice on snowboarding pants “insulation rating”?
I’m looking into purchasing some snowboard pants. I’ve found a few that I like in a similar price range but they all have different “insulation ratings”. I’m sure that the higher the number the greater the warmth. But from experienced boarders what do you recommend? The pair I like the most have are here http://www.tactics.com/roxy/quartz-pants/black . They have a rating of 80gms.
Advice? Opinions? I want to be warm but I don’t want to be so insulated that I’m uncomfortable.

Thanks for the advice but there is no way I’m spending $200 on pants to wear for one day. Geez. I thought $80 was expensive. Glad this isn’t a sport that I’m into. I’d be broke! Lol.
What you want to be looking at is the waterproof and breathability rating, Those pants are only 5k on both. The recommended number not go below is 10k, I myself don’t ride below 15k on either my jacket or pants and stay very warm with only 1 pair of thermals on.
