The 2010 Olympic Games, officially the XXI Olympic Winter Games or the 21st Olympic Games Winter is a major international multi-sport event held in 12-28 February 2010, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada with some events held in the town of Whistler, British Columbia and in the suburbs of Vancouver, Richmond, West Vancouver and the allocation of land to the university. The two Olympic and Paralympic Games are organized by the Vancouver Organizing Committee (VANOC). The 2010 Olympics are the Olympics third sponsored by Canada, and the first in the province of British Columbia. Previously, Canada hosted the 1976 Olympics in Montreal, Quebec in 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Alberta. Following the Olympic tradition, then Vancouver Mayor Sam Sullivan received the Olympic flag during the ceremony Closing the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy.
