Summer Snowboarding Whistler

snowboarding for a beginner?

hii
now here’s the thing. I’m 17 and I’ll be done with high school in 6 months. I live in this country in the middle east that’s pretty much a desert. It goes up to like 50C in the summer. This place is hot!
I’ve never even seen snow except for on television or in pictures.

I’ve heard of this place called Whistler in Canada and would like to visit it sometime in 2009. I want to know what it’s like to be on the snow.
And my finance is limited, so I thought I should try out for a 5 Day Snowboarding beginner’s program or something, just to get a feel of things.

Would you recommend it? Do you think I would be wasting my time or should I give it a shot? And since I’ve never even been on snow before, what’s your advice? And should i SERIOUSLY visit ( coz i really want to), or will I be a laughing stock on the slopes?
Any input is appreciated.Thank you.

Definitely visit. My first trip snowboarding was around age 18 and it changed my life…literally. I moved out to a resort and became a snowboard instructor! Of course you may feel embarrassed because you don’t know how to snowboard, but seriously 80% of the people on a mountain are beginners too.

The mountain is divided into different sections for beginners and experts, so you will mostly be around people your level anyways.

It can be quite expensive to snowboard, so make sure you look for special trip deals that include several days of snowboarding and lodging. You also should take a couple lessons so you learn faster and prevent injury.

But Whistler is an amazing place, so definitely go! Good luck :-)
